Galleri Charlotte Lund has the pleasure
of presenting photographic work by Gareth McConnell in his first solo exhibition in
the Nordic region.
The artist was born in 1972 in Carrickfergus, Northern Ireland and is now living and working in London.
The exhibition features work from four photographic series from 2003 – 2007: “Night Flowers”, “Meditation”, “Family. A 21st Century Love Poem (Sophie)” and “Community and Meeting Rooms”. Using only natural light, his photographs – many of them taken at night - necessitate long exposures, extending the photographic moment and capturing a passage of time, which gives them an intense, almost cinematic quality.
His work breathes fragility and desolation, the empty, run-down AA rooms, flowers growing out of city asphalt and a series of unmade beds that becomes the artist’s portrait.
Gareth McConnell did his MA in photography at The Royal College of Art in London and is represented by the Carl Freedman Gallery in London.
