Patrik Aarnivaara, Slow Motion is Monumental Sculpture
2012, February 02 - March 31
”Slow Motion is Monumental Sculpture”
February 2 - March 31, 2012
Galleri Charlotte Lund is pleased to present our second solo exhibition with Patrik Aarnivaara.
In the exhibition “Slow Motion is Monumental Sculpture” works in MDF and plexiglas are on view. “Stop Motion” is a large-scale significant piece that occupies most of the exhibition space. Patrik Aarnivaara often visualizes a thought process in which each individual work takes a position and point of view. How geometric forms can be programmed with narrative content and interpreted as a chain of events is the idea behind the works.
The title of the exhibition produces an image of the relationship and similarities between sculpture and film, but also an image which blurs the borders between them. The works in this exhibition experiments with possible links between the spatial and the cinematic by layering, filtering and mirroring sculptural and photographic images.
Patrik Aarnivaara (b. 1977) lives and works in Malmö, educated at Malmö Art Academy, Valand School of Fine Arts, Gothenburg and Goldsmith College, London. The artist recently participated in the group exhibitions ”Murder at the Savoy – Exhibition of a Crime”, Malmö konsthall; ”Lunds konsthall presentation”, Lunds konsthall; ”Inner light”, curator Ludovico Pratesi, Erica Fiorentini Gallery, Rome.
During the exhibition the gallery will organise an artist talk with Patrik Aarnivaara and an invited guest.
